: feeding ME with Isabelle Julien - Mornings in Paris

: feeding ME is a project we started in 2012 that explores the independent, entrepreneurial spirit of Maine by interviewing local food purveyors and artisans. With environmental portraits and interviews we will tell the story of the individuals who are behind Maine's local food community. It includes markets, restaurants, farms, Bed and Breakfasts, etc. To view more photography work by henrY Leiter Foto please visit the portfolio section: www.henryfoto.com

Isabelle Julien - Mornings in Paris, Kennebunk, Maine

Meet Isabelle Julien, world traveler and native of South France. Isabelle is an adventurous spirit with a warm smile and contagious laugh. She is deeply rooted in her French heritage and has diligently brought that passion into the Maine food scene with Mornings in Paris, a Parisian inspired Old World Café.

While living in the Caribbean, Isabelle vacationed in New England and instantly fell in love with the lifestyle and the natural aesthetic beauty of Maine. She discovered a coffee shop for sale in the Old Port district of Portland, and decided to purchase it. (The Old Port location has been closed since our interview and she has moved the café to Kennebunk, Maine.) With the large glass windows looking out at the narrow cobblestone streets she was able to recreate an Old World European style cafe.

Mornings in Paris roast their own coffee and the French pastries are family recipes that Isabelle and her mother have perfected. Her mother travels from France and stays for six months, during the busy season, to help with the baking. Isabelle is especially fond of her mother's Chocolate Raspberry cake.

Stop by Mornings in Paris and take a step back in time while you enjoy a delicious cup of coffee and allow the modern world to go on for a bit without you.
